CONSTITUTION:

The Board was set up by Statutory Rules and Orders 1935 No. 1124 supplemented by Statutory Rules and Orders (1936) No. 1154.

The area of responsibility is those drainage dikes between Sough Bridge at the north and Long Ing Barnoldswick in the west, to Salterforth, then south to Foulridge lying on the east side of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.

ADMINISTRATION:

MEMBERSHIP:

The Board consists of eight members including two Pendle Borough District Councillors.

The Chairman is Mr. R. D. Guy, 16 Barnwood Crescent, Earby BB18 6PD

The Vice Chairman is Mr. A. Butler, Lower Spen Farm, Earby Road, Salterforth, BB18 5TH.

The Councillors are: Mr. M. Horsfield & Mrs. R. Carroll.

MEETINGS:

The Board holds a minimum of two meetings per year. These are held at the Earby Town Council Rooms, Victoria Road, Earby, at 7.30PM normally on a Wednesday.

Notice of meetings is advertised in Pendle Council offices at Earby and Barnoldswick at least seven days prior to the meeting, except the AGM which will be fourteen days. Further details can be obtained from the Clerk (telephone above).

Meetings are open to the public to hear the debate. Anyone wishing to address the Board should submit their question to the Clerk at least three working days beforehand.

FINANCES:

Income consists of collection of a rate on owners of lands connecting with the drains and a levy of Pendle Borough Council, plus Upland Water Grant from the Environment Agency.
